April Cage
April Cage became executive principal for Region 6 in April 2024. She was previously the principal at FCPS' Garfield Elementary School in Springfield, Virginia.
Apri's journey in education spans over 25 years, a testament to her unwavering commitment to creating enriching learning environments. Her professional evolution, from a national board-certified teacher to roles such as advanced academic resource teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal within FCPS, showcases her steadfast dedication to advancing student achievement through transformative educational leadership and community engagement.
Cage serves as the 2024 president of the Fairfax Association of Elementary School Principals (FAESP). She has been honored with prestigious awards, including 2023 FCPS Outstanding Principal of the Year and 2019 Superintendent's Equity Award. Her leadership style is characterized by a commitment to transformational leadership, the cultivation of professional learning communities, and the establishment of strong, trusting relationships.
During her tenure as principal of Garfield Elementary and Bonnie Brae Elementary, Cage's innovative approach to instructional leadership and dedication to fostering inclusive environments were remarkable. She celebrated collaboration and communication among all stakeholders, leaving an indelible mark on the schools she led.
Cage holds a Bachelor of Science in animal science from Southern University Agricultural & Mechanical College and a Master of Education in educational leadership from the American College of Education.
